Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I add the scent?

You can add the scent directly to the bottle (approx. 2 pipettes) or add a small amount of shampoo on your palm and mix it with a couple of drops of a scent of your choosing. This is how you can influence your mood.

2. How the scent should be dosed?

You can add the scent directly to the bottle, for example one squeeze of the pipette first, and then add a second or third squeeze if you feel you want a stronger scent experience. It is easy to dispense a few drops at a time to the hand, mixed with shampoo or conditioner and add more if you feel the need.

3. Does the scent stay in the hair?

The scent does not directly stay in the hair like perfume. An aromatherapeutic scent experience is achieved while washing and caring for the hair, in that moment. Essential oil is the so-called volatile oil.

scent.

Remember to rinse the essential oil off your hands.

4. Are the products suitable for people with allergies?

The products have not caused allergic reactions, even though the natural ingredients we use are effective and abundant. Hence the saying 'hair's raw food'.

We remind you that due to its effectiveness, the hair and scalp skin must be given time to get used to the new surfactant (washing ingredient).

The product is suitable for those with a fragrance allergy, because the shampoo and the bases of our conditioners are fragrance-free, although a test wash on the skin of the hand should always (!) be done if you have serious allergies. In the products (3 and 4), for example, witch hazel is not a nut but a berry, so it does not cause allergies like a nut, even though its name may give a misleading impression.

Our essential oil scents are also often better suited than synthetic perfumes, and in this case, when you can define the strength of the scent yourself, we believe that those allergic to perfumes can get a little touch of the scent world back. But you can always use products also without scents.

5. How much shampoo is dispensed?

Shampoos and conditioners are undiluted, fine collections of nature's products, so they are very sufficient. It is enough to put a pea-sized amount of products and add another pea-sized amount if needed. Less is more.

Tip! If the scalp is dirty, rinse the hair, apply a small amount of shampoo, rinse quickly and then wash normally.

Another tip! If the scalp is very dirty, pre-wash dry hair and then proceed as normal.

6. How often should hair be washed?

You don't have to wash your hair every day, and our products are great for extending the washing interval. Because the shampoos contain gentle washing ingredients, surfactants, the scalp is treated with natural ingredients and the scalp does not need to secrete more oil than is necessary. The scalp and hair stay cared for and clean longer.

7. How do I protect waterways with Alonia hair products?

The products are made without petrochemical raw materials, so alonia products do not contain microplastics at all and if they end up in natural waters, they will completely decompose, because they are made 100% from natural raw materials. If the products end up in the natural waters or in the water purification system, they are still less harmful for the same reason, as they are made entirely from natural raw materials. The general rule and good practice is that you don't put anything that doesn't belong in natural waters.

When you buy products from the Alonia Eco Hair series, you are also donating to the John Nurminen Foundation's work to save the Baltic Sea.

8. How do I recycle the packaging of Alonia hair care products?

The glass bottle can be filled (soon!) with a refill pack, but when you want to recycle the pack, you can recycle it for glass collection. The pump goes to the mixed waste. The Alonia Eco Hair recycled plastic bottle is r-PET plastic (it is made of 100% recycled plastic, in which case no virgin plastic has been used in its production) and it can still be recycled in the plastic collection. Small glass scent bottles are recycled into glass, also the pipette that can be removed from the cap. Leftovers go in to the mixed waste.

9. Can I buy different scents or all scents?

It is recommended to try at least a few of the essential oil blends from the Alonia Eco Hair Therapy series. Scent mixes can be purchased in packages from our online store. The scents have their own meanings, Peace scent calms and Energy strengthens, Focus helps you focus on important moments and Refresh relaxes.

10. Can scents be used on the skin?

Alonia Eco Hair Therapy scents are not recommended for the skin directly, but we definitely recommend for example adding a few drops of Alonia scent to your unscented body cream. You can use alonia scents as "perfume" by mixing it with a small amount of vegetable oil and then gently massage it on your chest.  You can also try the scent on the corner of a scarf or shirt collar, or mix with Alonia conditioner used as a leave-in conditioner.

Remember to avoid essential oils on your skin if you are going out in the sun. Though after being in the sun, it's wonderful to add a few drops of Peace scent to the body lotion or mix it with coconut oil, its lavender relaxes the skin right away.

11. How do I get the scent to mix with the conditioner?

Squeeze one pipette of scent to a full bottle of conditioner and use as usual. You can add a little more scent if necessary the following times. The bottle is quite full, but when when the bottle is slowly emptying, the scent will get mixed.
It is also worth trying to mix the scent with shampoo/ conditioner on the palm of your hand ;)

12. How to use the dropper bottle in the shower?

We recommend opening the dropper bottle before going to shower and placing it on a flat surface. This way the scent bottle stays upright and it is easy to take the scent before dispensing it into the shampoo or conditioner.

13. How do I know if my hair is dyed or bleached?

As a rule of thumb, if your hair's natural color is lighter than the dyed part, your hair is dyed, and if your hair's natural color is darker than the dyed part, your hair is bleached.
